Why Isn’t My Deleted Post Removed from Clariti?
Clariti syncs content from your WordPress site via the public WordPress REST API, meaning it relies on the data available from your site. If a post is still appearing in Clariti after deletion, it could be due to one of the following reasons:
The post hasn’t been permanently deleted from WordPress.
Your Clariti dashboard is cached and needs to be refreshed.
The post hasn’t yet been detected as a 404 or 410 by Clariti’s automated sweeps.
A security plugin or firewall may be temporarily blocking updates.
Follow the steps below to resolve the issue.
Steps to Ensure Deleted Posts Are Removed from Clariti
1. Check If the Post Is Permanently Deleted
If a post is only moved to the WordPress trash but not permanently deleted, it may still appear in Clariti.
Go to WordPress Dashboard → Posts → Trash
If the post is still in the trash, click “Delete Permanently.”
2. Clear Your Browser Cache & Log Back In
Sometimes, cached data may cause deleted posts to still appear in Clariti. Try logging out and back into your Clariti account to refresh your dashboard.
3. Manually Sync Your Posts in Clariti
If the post has been deleted but still shows in Clariti:
Go to the Explore page in Clariti.
Click on the Action button (...) in the top-right corner.
Select “Reload All Items” to manually sync your posts.
4. Confirm the Post Has a 404 or 410 Status
Clariti removes posts that return a 404 (Not Found) or 410 (Gone) status. This process typically happens overnight but can take up to 48 hours, depending on external factors.
To check:
Open the deleted post’s URL in an incognito window or a different browser.
If the page still loads, it may not be fully removed.
You can also confirm the deletion status by visiting:
https://www.yoursite.com/wp-json/wp/v2/posts/144 (Replace 144 with the post ID.)
5. Check for Security Plugins or Firewalls Blocking Updates
Certain security plugins and hosting firewalls can block REST API requests, preventing Clariti from recognizing deletions.
If you use a security plugin, check if it is restricting the REST API access.
If your hosting provider has a firewall, ensure Clariti’s IP address (35.192.123.62) is whitelisted.
6. Using Another Plugin to Republish Your Content? Deleted Posts May Take Longer to Update
If you’re using another plugin like Yoast’s Rewrite & Republish feature, you may notice that deleted posts take longer to be removed from Clariti. This is because Yoast briefly republishes the post before merging it with the original. If you experience delays, allow additional time for Clariti to detect the removal.
7. If Posts Still Appear, Let Us Investigate
If you’ve completed all the steps above and your deleted posts still appear in Clariti, contact our support team with the URL of at least one post that should be deleted.
Please include any other details about how you deleted the post (e.g., via a plugin, manually, etc.), and we’ll take a closer look.
