When you sign up for Clariti, or when you connect Clariti to Claude or ChatGPT, you might see this message:
API error: Clariti token request is not valid
Clariti issues a short-lived security token before it accepts requests on its public pages. To issue one, your computer's clock has to agree with our servers to within about a minute. If the clock is off, or something on your network changes the request in transit, the token is refused and you see this error.
The most common cause by far is the clock, and it often looks correct on screen. If your computer is set to the wrong time zone and the displayed time was adjusted by hand to match where you are, the underlying time can be hours off. This happens a lot when travelling.
1. Check your computer's clock against real time
Open time.is in your browser. It tells you exactly how many seconds your clock is fast or slow. Anything more than a few seconds off will cause this error.
To fix it, let your computer set the time itself instead of setting it manually.
On Windows, open Settings, then Time & Language, then Date & time. Turn on "Set time automatically" and "Set time zone automatically," then click "Sync now."
On a Mac, open System Settings, then General, then Date & Time. Turn on "Set time and date automatically" and "Set time zone automatically using your current location."
Then reload the page and try again. Most people are done at this step.
2. Try another browser
This tells you whether the problem is specific to your current browser or its extensions.
3. Turn off privacy tools, ad blockers, and security extensions
These can block or alter the token request. Disable them for the Clariti page and retry.
4. Check your VPN or firewall
If you use a VPN or a firewall, allow Clariti so the token request isn't blocked. Our IP address is 35.192.123.62.
