Clariti pulls your traffic numbers from Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and your keyword data from Google Search Console. If numbers are missing, look wrong, or you see an error, the fix is usually in one of a few places. Work through the sections below in order.
Start with Your Google Account Card
Go to Settings and find the Google Account card. Only the site owner can see this card. If you are a team member with the Editor role, ask the site owner to check it for you.
The badge at the top tells you where things stand:
Not Connected. Clariti has no access to Google yet. Click Grant Access to your Google Account. See How to Connect Your Google Account to Clariti.
Selection Needed. You granted access but did not finish choosing your settings. Pick your GA4 Account, GA4 Property, and Search Console Domain URL, then click Save Google Settings.
Connected. Clariti is connected. Check the details listed on the card: Last Sync, Account (the Google email you connected), Timezone, GA4 Account, GA4 Property, and GSC Domain.
How and When Clariti Collects Your Data
Knowing the schedule helps you tell a real problem from data that simply has not arrived yet.
When you first connect, Clariti collects your history going back to the first day your GA4 property recorded visitors, up to about 26 months (just over two years). This can take up to 24 hours. Until it finishes, you will see Collecting and Processing on your charts.
Every day, at about 1 AM in your site's time zone, Clariti collects the previous day's numbers. Your site's time zone is the Timezone shown on the Google Account card, which comes from your GA4 property.
Recent days get refreshed. Google can take up to 48 hours to finish processing a day, so Clariti collects the most recent couple of days again and refreshes recent data around 1 PM. If yesterday's numbers shift a little, that is why.
Keyword data comes straight from Search Console each time you open a post's keywords, so it does not wait for the daily update.
Traffic Numbers Are Missing or Look Wrong
The Wrong GA4 Property Is Selected
This is the most common cause. Many bloggers have more than one GA4 property: an old test property, one a developer set up, or one created by an ad management company. Open the ... menu on the Google Account card, choose Modify Settings, and compare the GA4 Property with the property you see in Google Analytics.
When you save, Clariti tests the property. If you see "No data was found for" your site "using the selected GA4 settings," the property you picked has no visits for your site's domain. Choose a different property and save again.
Your Property Is Subject to GA4 Data Thresholds
If you see a warning that the property is subject to GA4 "Data Thresholds," Google is withholding some of your data and Clariti will not save the settings until it is fixed. Follow How to Remove GA4 Data Thresholds So Clariti Can Collect Your Data.
The Data Is Missing in Google Analytics Too
Clariti can only show what GA4 has. Log in to Google Analytics and look at the same dates. If the numbers are missing there, your tracking code may have stopped working, which often happens after changing themes, switching an analytics plugin, or moving to a new ad setup. Once tracking is fixed in GA4, Clariti picks up new data on its next daily update.
Your Site Is Brand New to Clariti
If you connected within the last day, give it 24 hours. The Collecting and Processing message goes away once your first sync finishes.
Keyword Data Is Missing
If a post shows "There was a problem while loading keyword data" or you do not see keywords you expect, check these:
A Domain URL is selected. On the Google Account card, the GSC Domain row should show your site. If it shows a dash, choose Modify Settings and pick your Domain URL.
Your Google account has access in Search Console. The Google account you connected needs to be a verified owner or an added user of that Search Console property. If someone else set up Search Console for you, ask them to add your Google account.
The post has search traffic. Posts that have not shown up in Google search in the selected date range show No Keyword Data Found. That is normal for brand new posts or posts that get most of their traffic from Pinterest or email.
Connection Problems
You Connected the Wrong Google Account
Check the Account row on the Google Account card. If it is not the Google account that owns your Analytics and Search Console, disconnect and reconnect. To make sure you pick the right account, open Clariti in a private or incognito browser window so no other Google accounts are signed in.
Not All Permissions Were Granted
If you see "Access to all requested permissions was not granted," Google's sign-in window had a box left unchecked. Connect again and check every box. Clariti asks for your email address plus read-only access to Analytics and Search Console.
Your Google Account Cannot See the Property
If your GA4 property does not appear in the list, the Google account you connected does not have access to it in Google Analytics. This happens a lot when a developer or ad management company created the property. Ask them to add your Google account to the GA4 property, then choose Modify Settings in Clariti.
"We were unable to retrieve the Google refresh token for your account."
This message means Clariti no longer has a working connection to your Google account. To fix it:
1. On the Google Account card, open the ... menu and choose Disconnect Account, then confirm with Disconnect Google Account.
2. Click Grant Access to your Google Account and sign in again, checking every box.
3. Choose your GA4 and Search Console settings and click Save Google Settings.
Disconnecting removes Clariti's access to that Google account, so any other sites you connected with the same Google account will need to be reconnected too.
One Google Account, One Clariti Login
A Google account can only be connected through one Clariti login. Google gives Clariti its long-term access only the first time a Google account is connected, so if the same Google account is connected from a second Clariti login, that second login cannot hold the connection and you will see the refresh token error above.
If you have sites under separate Clariti logins that use the same Google account, email us and we will help you bring those sites under one login. You can then switch between sites with the site selector at the top of Clariti. Each site in a login can use its own Google account, or they can share one.
What to Send Us If You Are Still Stuck
Email [email protected] with your site URL, what you are seeing (a screenshot of the message helps), and a screenshot of your Google Account card in Settings. That gives us what we need to track it down quickly.
