Getting Started with Clariti

Your first-week guide to Clariti, from your first import to finding your way around Home, Explore, a post, and Projects.

Written by Jen Lowery

Welcome to Clariti! This guide walks you through your first week: what happens right after you sign up, the two connections that make Clariti work, and a quick tour of the pages you will use most. Set aside about 20 minutes and you will be ready to start improving your older posts.

What Happens After You Sign Up

During signup you checked that your site is compatible, created your account, installed the Clariti WordPress plugin to verify you own the site, and checked out. So by the time you land in Clariti, the plugin is already on your site. Keep it installed and active, because Clariti uses it to hear about every post you publish, update, or delete.

Next, Clariti brings in every post and page on your site. While that first import runs, you will see the Welcome to Clariti page with an Estimated time to completion. Bigger sites take longer, so a site with 2,000 posts will take more time than one with 150 posts.

You do not need to keep the page open. We will email you when your account is ready. When the import finishes, the Welcome page shows a Take Me to My Clariti Account button.

Tip: Settings is available while the import runs, so this is a great time to connect Google (Step 2 below).

Step 1: Check That the WordPress Plugin Is Connected

1. Click Settings at the top right of Clariti.

2. Find the WordPress card and look for the Connected badge.

If the badge says Not Connected, or you see a banner that says "The Clariti WordPress plugin on your site is not connected," follow How to Install and Connect the Clariti WordPress Plugin. If it still will not connect, see Troubleshooting the Clariti Plugin Connection.

Step 2: Connect Google Analytics 4 and Search Console

Your traffic numbers come from Google Analytics 4, and your keyword data comes from Google Search Console. Until you connect them, the traffic cards in Clariti show blurred sample data.

1. In Settings, find the Google Account card and click Grant Access to your Google Account.

2. Sign in with the Google account that has access to your Analytics and Search Console, and allow every permission Google asks for.

3. Back in Clariti, choose your GA4 Account, GA4 Property, and Search Console Domain URL, then click Save Google Settings.

It can take up to 24 hours for all of your Google data to arrive. Only the site owner sees the Google Account card. For the full walkthrough, see How to Connect Google Analytics 4 and Search Console to Clariti.

Step 3: Take a Quick Tour

Use the buttons at the top of Clariti to move between Home, Explore, and Projects. If you manage more than one site, switch sites with the site selector next to Settings.

Home

Home is your whole site at a glance: a traffic chart, your Page Views, Sessions, and Users totals, your top posts, your top traffic sources, and the tasks and reminders coming up for you and your team. Change the metric or date range at the top of the chart and the rest of the page follows along.

Explore

Explore lists every post and page on your site, and it is where most of the real work starts. A few things to try in your first week:

  • Type part of a title into the Text Filter box to find a post fast.

  • Click a column header like Published to sort, and use the columns button to add columns such as Page Views or Broken Links.

  • Click Add Filter to narrow the list, for example to posts in your Holiday Baking category that are missing a meta description.

  • Click Super Search (or press /) and type a phrase like "posts from any December" to find seasonal content worth refreshing before the holidays.

A Post's Detail Page

Click any post title in Explore to open its detail page. The Overview tab sums up the post's tasks, issues, notes, and recent traffic. Performance has the full traffic chart and the post's Search Console keywords. Content lists every image and link on the post, including anything broken.

Use Quick Actions to add a note, task, reminder, or annotation, or to add the post to a project. Press Opt + A on a Mac or Alt + A on Windows to open it. Edit in WordPress takes you straight to the post editor when you are ready to make changes.

Projects

Projects turn a list of posts into a to-do list. You give a project a checklist of tasks, and every post you add gets that same checklist. For example, a "Refresh Top 20 Dinner Recipes" project might have tasks like "Update the photos," "Add an FAQ section," and "Check internal links."

Create a project with the + button on the Projects page. Then add posts from Explore, or from a post's Quick Actions with Assign to Project.
