How to Connect Google Analytics 4 and Search Console to Clariti

Connect your Google account in Clariti Settings so your traffic and keyword data flow into Clariti.

Written by Jen Lowery

Connecting Google brings your traffic and keyword data into Clariti. Google Analytics 4 gives you page views, sessions, and users on Home, in Explore, and on every post. Google Search Console gives you the keywords each post ranks for.

Only the site owner can connect Google. If you are a team member, you will not see the Google Account card in Settings, so ask the site owner to do this part.

Before You Start

  • Know which Google account has access to your GA4 property and your Search Console property. They need to be the same Google account.

  • Allow pop-ups for Clariti in your browser. Google's sign-in opens in a small pop-up window.

Connect Your Google Account

1. In Clariti, click Settings at the top right.

2. Find the Google Account card. Its badge says Not Connected.

3. Click Grant Access to your Google Account.

4. In the Google window, choose the Google account that has access to your Analytics and Search Console. Allow every permission Google asks for. Clariti asks for read-only access to Analytics and Search Console, plus your email address so it can show which account is connected.

5. Back in Clariti, the badge changes to Selection Needed and you will see Almost done!

6. Under Google Analytics 4, choose your GA4 Account, then your GA4 Property.

7. Under Google Search Console, choose your site in Domain URL.

8. Click Save Google Settings. The button reads Testing Google Settings... while Clariti checks that the property has data for your site.

When it is done, the badge changes to Connected and you will see "Your Google Account is connected!" It can take up to 24 hours to collect all of your Google data, so check back tomorrow for your full stats.

What the Badges Mean

  • Connected. Google is connected and your GA4 property is saved.

  • Selection Needed. Google access was granted, but you still need to choose your GA4 property and click Save Google Settings.

  • Not Connected. Clariti does not have access to a Google account for this site yet.

Change Your Property or Search Console Domain

1. In Settings, click the ... menu on the Google Account card.

2. Choose Modify Settings.

3. Pick a different GA4 Account, GA4 Property, or Domain URL.

4. Click Save Google Settings, or Cancel to keep your current settings.

Disconnect Your Google Account

Disconnect if you want to switch to a different Google account, or if Clariti asks you to reconnect.

1. In Settings, click the ... menu on the Google Account card.

2. Under Danger zone, choose Disconnect Account.

3. Click Disconnect Google Account to confirm.

To connect again, click Grant Access to your Google Account and follow the steps above.

Messages You Might See

  • "No data was found for (your site) using the selected GA4 settings." The property you picked has no traffic for this site. This usually means you chose a different site's property, so pick the property for this site and save again.

  • "The selected property is subject to GA4 "Data Thresholds"..." Google is hiding some of your data, which would leave big gaps in Clariti. Follow How to Remove GA4 Data Thresholds So Clariti Can Collect Your Data, then save again.

  • "Access to all requested permissions was not granted." One of the permission boxes was left unchecked on Google's screen. Click Grant Access to your Google Account again and allow everything.

  • "Access to Google Account was cancelled." The Google window was closed before you finished. Start again with Grant Access to your Google Account.

  • "We were unable to retrieve the Google refresh token for your account." Disconnect your Google account using the menu on the card, then connect it again.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why don't I see the Google Account card in Settings?

Only the site owner sees it. If you are a team member, ask the site owner to connect Google.

How long until my data shows up?

It can take up to 24 hours after you connect. Until then, traffic cards show a Collecting and Processing message. After that, Clariti pulls new Google data every day, and the Last Sync row on the Google Account card shows when it last ran.

How much history will I see?

Clariti brings in up to 26 months of Google Analytics history, which is as far back as Google makes page-level data available.

My site isn't in the Domain URL list. What do I do?

The Google account you connected needs access to your site in Search Console. Add that account to your Search Console property, or disconnect and reconnect with the Google account that already has access.

My data looks wrong or stopped updating. Where do I start?
