How to Create a Project in Clariti

Set up a project with a name, due date, assignees, and a task checklist that applies to every post you add.

Written by Jen Lowery

A project is a checklist you run across a batch of posts. You write the tasks once, such as "Update the recipe card" or "Add three internal links," then add the posts you want to work on. Every post in the project gets that same checklist, and Clariti tracks your progress as you check things off.

Projects work well for jobs like refreshing last year's holiday cookie posts before November, fixing broken links across your archive, or adding FAQ sections to your top 20 recipes.

Create a New Project

1. Click Projects in the top navigation.

2. If this is your first project, click Create a New Project. Otherwise, click the + button at the top right of the Projects page.

3. Fill in the Add Project form. Each field is explained below.

4. Click Add Project.

Clariti confirms the project was created and shows it on your Active tab.

What Goes in Each Field

Name. Up to 50 characters. Something specific like "Fall Soup Refresh" is easier to find later than "Updates."

Description. Optional notes about the goal or how to do the work, up to 500 characters. It shows at the top of the project page, so it is a handy place for instructions to a VA or editor.

Assign To. Choose one or more people on your team. This field appears when your team has more than one member. Anyone you assign sees the project on their My Active tab. Leave it as Unassigned if the project is just for you.

Due Date. Optional. When a project is due within the next 30 days and still has open tasks, it shows up in the Upcoming Tasks card on your Home dashboard.

Tasks. The checklist for every post in the project. Each project needs at least one task. Click Add Another Task to add more, up to 50 tasks of up to 70 characters each. Drag the handle to the left of a task to change the order, and click the x next to a task to remove it.

Tasks Apply to Every Post

When you add posts to the project, each post gets its own copy of the checklist. If your project has 3 tasks and you add 12 posts, you have 36 checkboxes to work through. The progress bar on the project counts all of them.

Tips for Writing Good Tasks

  • Make each task a single action you can check off, like "Replace hero photo" or "Add Pin image," so progress stays accurate.

  • Put tasks in the order you would actually do them in WordPress.

  • Keep projects focused. A "Fix Broken Links" project with two or three tasks is easier to finish than one project that tries to cover photos, SEO, and links all at once.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change the tasks after I create the project?

Yes. Open the project menu and choose Edit. If you add a new task later, it is added unchecked to every post already in the project. See Managing Projects: Edit, Duplicate, Archive, and Delete.

Who can create projects?

The site owner and any team member with the Editor role can create and work on projects.

Can I set a due date for each post or task?

Due dates are set for the whole project. If some posts need to be done sooner, put them in their own project with an earlier due date.
