How to Add Posts and Pages to a Project

Add a single post from its Quick Actions menu or add many posts at once from Explore.

Written by Jen Lowery

Once your project and its checklist are set up, the next step is choosing which posts to work on. You can add posts in bulk from Explore, which is the fastest way to build a list like "every post from December with more than 1,000 page views," or add a single post while you are looking at it.

Before You Start

You need at least one active project. Archived projects cannot take new posts, and the Assign to Project option stays greyed out until you have an active project. If you have not made one yet, see How to Create a Project in Clariti.

Add Many Posts at Once from Explore

1. Click Explore in the top navigation.

2. Narrow the list to the posts you want. You can use Add Filter in the Filters panel, run a Super Search (press / anywhere on your site), or check the boxes next to individual posts. Hold Shift while clicking checkboxes to select a range.

3. Click the ... button at the top right of the list and choose Assign to Project.

4. In the Assign Items to Project window, use Assign to pick which posts to add (the options are explained below).

5. Use To to pick the project.

6. Click Assign to Project.

Clariti confirms with a message like "25 items successfully assigned to the "Holiday Refresh" project."

Selected, Filtered, or All Items

Selected Items. Only the posts you checked.

Filtered Items. Every post that matches your current filters or Super Search, including ones on other pages of the list. This option is available only when a filter is active.

All Items. Every post and page Clariti has for your site.

Each option shows its count in parentheses. Clariti starts on Selected Items if you checked any boxes, then Filtered Items if a filter is active, and All Items otherwise, so glance at the count before you click.

Example: Build a Holiday Refresh List

Open Super Search and type Posts from any December by most views. Clariti filters to every post published in any December and sorts by page views. Check the top 20, then choose Assign to Project, pick Selected Items, and send them to your holiday project. To add the whole list instead, pick Filtered Items.

Add a Single Post

1. Open the post by clicking its title in Explore.

2. Click Quick Actions and choose Assign to Project. You can also press Opt + P on a Mac or Alt + P on Windows.

3. Pick a project from the Select Project list. Each project shows its number of tasks and when it was created or is due.

4. Click Continue.

The list only shows active projects that this post is not already in. If Assign to Project is greyed out, the post is already in every active project, or you do not have an active project yet.

What Happens After You Add Posts

  • Each post gets the project's full checklist, with every task unchecked.

  • The posts appear on the project's To Do tab.

  • The project's tasks also show in the Tasks card on each post's Overview tab, under the project name, and you can check them off there too.

  • If a post is already in the project, Clariti skips it and keeps any progress you made.

  • Projects are a fixed list. Posts you publish later, or posts that start matching your filters later, are not added on their own. Run your filter again and add them when you are ready.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a post be in more than one project?

Yes. Each project keeps its own checklist, so checking off a task in one project does not change the other.

Why is Filtered Items greyed out?

No filter or Super Search is active, so the filtered list is the same as All Items. Add a filter first.

Can I add pages as well as posts?

Yes. Anything listed in Explore can be added to a project, including pages.

How do I take a post out of a project?

Open the project, check the box next to the post, and choose Remove from Project from the project menu. Details are in How to Check Off Tasks and Track Progress in a Project.
