Clariti checks every post and page on your site for seven common problems that can hurt how your content looks, loads, and ranks. You will see them on each post's Issues card, and you can find every post with issues from Explore.
The Seven Issues
Broken images
An image on the post did not load when Clariti tested it. Open the Content tab to see which image failed, the error it returned, and when it was last tested. Replace or remove the image in WordPress.
Broken links
A link on the post did not work when Clariti tested it. The Content tab shows which link failed and why. Update or remove it in WordPress. Some working sites block automated checks, so if the link opens fine for you, mark it Ignore. See Why Are Working Links Flagged as Broken?
More than one H1 heading
The post has more than one H1 tag. Most themes use the post title as the only H1, so a second H1 in the body usually means a heading was set to the wrong level. Change it to H2 in WordPress.
Images with missing alt text
Some images have no alt text. Alt text describes the image for screen readers and helps search engines understand it. Add a short description to each image in WordPress. Images your theme marks as decorative or hidden are not counted.
Missing meta description
The post has no meta description, so search engines will write their own snippet. Add one in your SEO plugin.
Missing structured data
Clariti did not find any structured data (JSON-LD) on the post. Recipe cards and most SEO plugins add structured data automatically, so this usually means a plugin is turned off or the post has no recipe card.
Orphaned page
No other post on your site links to this one, which makes it harder for readers and search engines to find. Add a link to it from a few related posts. See Understanding Links: Internal, Inbound, External, and Broken.
Find Every Post With Issues
In Explore, you can work through issues across your whole site:
Issues column. Click the columns icon (Select Columns to Show in List) and check Issues. Click the column header to sort by it.
Issue Count filter. Click Add Filter and choose Issue Count under Opportunities. The same group has filters for Alt Text Missing Count, Broken Image Count, and Broken Link Count.
Super Search. Press / and try phrases like posts with broken links, all items with missing alt text, posts with no meta description, or posts that are orphaned.
The issue count is the number of types of issues on a post, not the number of individual problems. A post with 12 broken links and 3 images missing alt text has an issue count of 2.
Ignoring Something You Know Is Fine
On a post's Content tab, a checkbox appears at the end of each row that has a problem, in the Ignore column. Check it for a broken link, a broken image, or an image with missing alt text that you know is fine. Ignored items stop counting toward the post's issues.
Ignoring a broken link or image applies to your whole site. If the same URL appears on other posts, it is ignored there too. Ignoring missing alt text applies only to that image on that post.
Frequently Asked Questions
How often does Clariti check for issues?
Links and images are tested about once a month. The other checks update as your posts sync from WordPress. To recheck a post's links now, use Quick Actions > Retest Links. Results arrive within 24 hours.
I fixed an issue. Why is it still showing?
If you changed the post, use Quick Actions > Sync Content to pull in the update. If you fixed a link or image, use Retest Links.
Can I turn off an issue type for my whole site?
Not right now. You can ignore individual links, images, and alt text, but the seven checks run on every post.
Can I build a project from my posts with issues?
Yes. Filter Explore by Issue Count, open the actions menu, and choose Assign to Project. See How to Create a Project in Clariti.
