Explore is the list of every post and page Clariti has synced from your site. This article covers the everyday tools on that page: the Text Filter, sorting, selecting, pagination, columns, the actions menu, and exporting to a spreadsheet. For narrowing the list with filters, see Filtering Your Content in Explore.
Reading the List
Each row shows the post title (click it to open the post detail page), when it was published and last modified, any labels on the post, the values for the columns you have chosen, and a link icon that opens the live post on your site.
The line at the top of the list tells you what you are looking at. It reads Showing all 1,240 items. when nothing is filtered, Showing 86 of 1,240 items. when filters are on, and adds 12 selected. when you have checked some rows.
Finding a Post With the Text Filter
The Text Filter box at the top right narrows the list by title as you type. Press Ctrl + / (on both Mac and Windows) to jump straight to it.
Each word you type has to match the start of a word in the title. Words can be in any order and capitalization does not matter, so typing chick soup finds both "Chicken Noodle Soup" and "Lemon Chicken Orzo Soup."
To pull up one post by its WordPress ID, type id= followed by the number, like id=4821. You can see a post's ID in the address bar when you edit it in WordPress, or by adding the Content Id column.
The Text Filter works on top of any filters you have set. Filter to your Desserts category, type cookie, and you will see only dessert posts with "cookie" in the title. Press Esc or click the × in the box to clear it.
Sorting the List
Click any column header to sort by it, including Title, Published, Modified, and any column you have added. The first click sorts from highest to lowest (newest first for dates). Click the same header again to flip the order.
The list starts out sorted by publish date, newest first. Clariti remembers your last sort in this browser.
Selecting Posts
Check the box at the start of a row to select that post. To select a run of posts, check one box, then hold Shift and check another. Everything in between is selected too. Shift works the same way for unchecking a run.
The checkbox in the list header selects every post that matches your current filters, across all pages, not only the page you are looking at. Click it again to clear your selection.
Selected posts are what Manage Labels and Assign to Project use when you choose Selected Items.
Moving Between Pages
Page buttons sit below the list. To jump to a page, type its number in the Go box and press Enter. You can also press Opt + [ and Opt + ] on a Mac or Alt + [ and Alt + ] on Windows to go back or forward a page.
Click the gear icon next to the page buttons to open Pagination Preferences:
Per Page sets how many posts show on each page: 25, 50 (the default), 100, or 200.
Show Controls at Top adds a second set of page buttons above the list.
Scroll Up on Change takes you back to the top of the page when you change pages. It is on by default.
Your pagination preferences, filters, columns, and sort are all saved in this browser. They will not follow you to a different computer or browser.
Choosing Which Columns to Show
Click the columns icon at the top right of the list (its tooltip reads Select Columns to Show in List). Check a column to add it and uncheck it to remove it. Click any column header afterward to sort by it.
Here is what you can add:
About the post. Content Id, Content Type, Author, Categories, Tags, Comments, Words, H1 Count, H2 Count, and Images. Categories and Tags show how many each post has.
Issues and links. Issues, Alt Text Missing, Broken Images, Broken Links, Links, Internal Links, External Links, and Inbound Links.
Ratings. Reviews (how many ratings the recipe card has) and Stars (the average rating).
Traffic. Visitors, Visitors % Change, Sessions, Sessions % Change, Page Views, and Page Views % Change. These appear once Google Analytics is connected, and they follow the Performance Period at the top of the Filters panel.
Some headers use short names so they fit. For example, Page Views % Change shows as Views %, Inbound Links as Inb. Links, and Content Type as Type.
Why Some Columns Are Greyed Out
The list has room for 8 units of columns. Most columns take 1 unit, while Alt Text Missing and Broken Images take 2. Once the list is full, anything that will not fit turns grey. Uncheck a column or two to make room, and the greyed-out options come back.
For example, the default set with Google Analytics connected (Comments, Images, Words, Visitors, Sessions, and Page Views) uses 6 units. That leaves room for two more 1-unit columns, or one 2-unit column.
Choosing a traffic source from the Sources button swaps your columns for three traffic source columns. See How to Filter and Sort Your Posts by Traffic Source.
Reset Columns
Click Reset Columns at the top of the columns menu to go back to the defaults: Comments, Images, and Words, plus Visitors, Sessions, and Page Views when Google Analytics is connected.
The Actions Menu
The ... button at the top right of the list holds the actions you can take on a group of posts:
Manage Labels adds or removes labels on your selected posts, your filtered posts, or all posts. See How to Create and Manage Labels in Clariti.
Assign to Project adds posts to a project. It stays greyed out until you have at least one active project. See How to Add Posts and Pages to a Project.
Export Items to CSV downloads your list as a spreadsheet (more below).
Reload All Items reloads your post list from Clariti. Use it if the list in this browser looks out of date. It does not pull anything new from WordPress. To refresh one post from WordPress, see How to Manually Sync a Single Post or Page.
Manage Labels, Assign to Project, and Export Items to CSV are greyed out when your filters match no posts.
Exporting Your List to a Spreadsheet
1. Filter the list down to the posts you want. To export everything, clear your filters and the Text Filter first.
2. Click the ... button and choose Export Items to CSV.
3. Clariti shows Generating Export of N Items... and then Export of N Items is Ready.
4. Click Click Here to Download Export Spreadsheet. The file name includes your site name, the number of items, and the date.
A few things to know about the file:
It exports every post that matches your filters and Text Filter, across all pages, in the order the list is sorted. Checked boxes do not change what is exported. To export a hand-picked group, give those posts a label with Manage Labels and filter by that label.
The columns are always the same, whatever you have showing in Explore: Id, Title, Author, Published Date, Modified Date, Alt Text Missing, Broken Images, Broken Links, Category Count, Content Type, Images, Links, Links (External), Links (Inbound), Links (Internal), Tag Count, Word Count, then Page Views, Sessions, and Users for every period from 1 day to All time, and finally the URL.
Some Explore data is left out, including Comments, H1 and H2 counts, Issues, Reviews, Stars, labels, the % Change columns, and traffic source columns.
If the export fails, you will see We cannot generate a file for export at this time. Try again in a different browser, and email us if that does not fix it.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why are some options in the columns menu greyed out?
The list is full. It has room for 8 units of columns, and Alt Text Missing and Broken Images take 2 units each. Uncheck a column to make room, or click Reset Columns.
Why can't I find the Visitors, Sessions, or Page Views columns?
Traffic columns appear once your Google account is connected. See How to Connect Google Analytics 4 and Search Console to Clariti.
Can I export only the posts I checked?
The export always uses your filtered list. Give the posts you want a label with Manage Labels, filter Explore by that label, and then export.
Why did my columns and filters reset on my other computer?
Explore saves your columns, filters, sort, and page settings in the browser you are using. Each browser keeps its own set.
Is there a keyboard shortcut for the Text Filter?
Yes. Press Ctrl + / to jump to it and Esc to clear it. For every shortcut in Clariti, see Clariti Keyboard Shortcuts.
